Katie is a visual artist and educator from Memphis, Tennessee. She holds a BS in Biology from Rhodes College, an MFA in Photography from the University of Memphis and a graduate certificate in Museum Studies from the University of Memphis. In her art practice, Katie uses paper and negative space to create opportunities for dialogue about women and work. Most recently, she integrates the female body, maps, landforms and celestial bodies with repeating patterns and forms found in the home. She currently serves as editor of Number, a quarterly publication that reports on contemporary art, people, and events shaping art in the South.
